CJN to Swear In New Supreme Court Justice

The office of the CJN confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony for Joseph Oyewole will take place on Wednesday at 2 pm inside Courtroom Two of the Supreme Court of Nigeria complex.

Before his elevation, Oyewole served at the Court of Appeal where he was the Presiding Justice of the Enugu Division, and his promotion is seen as part of broader efforts to reinforce the nation’s judicial system.

The recommendation for his appointment followed deliberations by the National Judicial Council during its 110th meeting held in January, where several judicial nominations were approved to strengthen courts nationwide.

In an official statement, the court’s spokesperson described the appointment as a strategic move aimed at boosting the Supreme Court’s capacity to handle cases efficiently while maintaining high standards of fairness.

According to the judiciary, Oyewole’s record of service reflects professional discipline and legal expertise expected to enhance decision-making at the apex court.

Court authorities further noted that the ceremony represents continued institutional renewal designed to sustain integrity, competence and impartiality within the bench.

Invited guests were advised to comply fully with security and procedural guidelines set by the court ahead of the event.

Judicial officials reiterated that the Supreme Court remains committed to promoting justice, independence and public confidence in Nigeria’s legal system.
