The event which had the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola in attendance was quite historic being the first to be performed by him as the University new helmsman. Many students described his presence as a sign of growing cooperation between management and student leadership

Addressing journalists after the inauguration, Prof. Omojola commended the outgoing union for maintaining peace and stability in the university. He urged the new executives to protect the calm atmosphere that allows learning and development to thrive, while reminding students that leadership must not distract them from their academic responsibilities. “Character and learning remain the foundation of every certificate issued by this university,” he stressed.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Sanya Ifeoluwa Amos thanked the student body for the mandate given to him and pledged to lead with sincerity, humility, and dedication to student welfare.

He said his administration would work closely with university management, faculties, and all student bodies to promote unity across colleges, improve welfare, strengthen transportation, and ensure students’ voices are heard at every level.

The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Clement Oladayo Daramola, noted that the election, which produced Amos from six candidates, was conducted in line with university rules. He urged the new executives to maintain open communication with management.

The oath of office was administered by the University Legal Adviser, Barrister Oluwabusuyi Jayeoba, after which the new SUG leadership pledged to uphold the Students’ Union constitution and serve the student community with responsibility and integrity.
