The elders caucus of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti South Senatorial District of Ekiti State, has rejoiced with the Deputy Governor, Chief ( Mrs) Monisade Afuye, on the demise of her mother, Olori Esther Iyalaje Adegboye.
The APC Elders’ Forum stated that Mrs Adegboye’s virtues of honesty and humility she exhibited and, which resonated with Ikere Ekiti people, had immortalized her in the hearts of the populace as a respectable community leader and well cultured individual.
Madam Adegboye, the mother of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, died on February 18, 2025, at the age of 97.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the Deputy Governor in her office, on Monday, the Forum’s Chairman and former Deputy Governor, Surveyor Biodun Aluko, said the deceased contributed her quota to the development of Ikere kingdom during her lifetime.
Aluko celebrated Madam Adegboye for raising a disciplined and loyal personality like the Deputy Governor as a child and bequeath her to the state to occupy leadership position to demonstrate her well cultured disposition to uplift humanity.
“We are not here to console you, but to rejoice with you on the passing of your mother. She lived a life that was well fulfilled and died at a riped age of 97. We thank God for her glorious exit.
“I know of a fact that it was God that transited her into glory. Mama that trained you must be commended for giving us a Deputy Governor that was well trained, cultured, loyal to a good cause and highly respectful.
“We pray for the repose of her soul in the bosom of God Almighty”, Aluko said.
On the coming political activities in the State, Aluko assured that the group has begun aggressive mobilisation across the six councils in the district to drive the second term reelection bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
“In the political turf, we are solidly behind Governor Oyebanji and our dear Deputy Governor. We have started with an endorsement in Ekiti South Senatorial District, we will match it up with requisite support, so that the good work being enjoyed under Governor Oyebanji will continue till 2030”.
Lending credence to Aluko’s contributions, the Ekiti South APC Senatorial Chairman, Chief Akindele Akinbobola, lauded Mrs Adegboye for working hard to inculcate discipline in her children.
Akinbobola stated that this reflected in the positive disposition of the Deputy Governor and her appealing approach to governance that has been acknowledged near and wide.
In her submission, the Deputy Governor, applauded the APC leaders for being steadfast in their backing for Governor Oyebanji, saying this has helped in lubricating every friction capable of hindering smooth running of government.
Mrs Afuye saluted the APC chieftains for their love and solidarity at this trying time, urging them to sustain the current tempo of support being accorded Governor Oyebanji, for the expected dividends of democracy to percolate down to the doorsteps of every Ekiti citizen.
