Fuji legend, King Wasiu Ayinde, known as K1 De Ultimate, has shared the reasons behind his performance at the wedding of Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa’s daughter, despite the personal tragedy of losing his mother on the same day.
The music icon’s mother, Alhaja Halimot Shadiya Anifowoshe, passed away at the age of 105 on Saturday. After laying her to rest in Ijebu, Ogun State, K1 made his way to the wedding, which was held at Balmoral, Federal Palace, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a heartfelt reflection during his performance, K1 expressed the deep emotional toll of his mother’s passing. Nonetheless, he emphasized the strong relationship he has with Sheikh Onikijipa, which influenced his decision to attend and perform at the event.
K1 shared that their friendship spans many years, dating back to their youth. He also invited attendees to join him at the Fidau prayers for his late mother, which will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Ijebu, Ogun State.
