Udiroko 2023: Avoid Do Or Die Pursuits Of Political Ambitions, Ewi Tasks Ekiti Residents               … hails Oyebanji for according due recognition, reverence to traditional rulers

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, has called on Ekiti residents to avoid do or die pursuits of political ambitions and interests.

Oba Adejugbe stated this in his speech on Sunday, while reacting to the current economic and political situations in the country, during the winding up of 2023, Udiroko festival.

The monarch implored them to rather imbibe the culture of societal stability and development for the betterment of the society.

“I  appeal to all Ado Sons and Daughters and, Ekiti people as a whole to continue to cooperate with both the Federal and State Governments at all times.

“They should be tolerant of situations (known and unknown) and they should avoid jumping to hasty conclusions and decisions. 

“They should and must avoid do or die pursuits of political and economic interests and ambitions, instead, imbibe the culture of societal stability and development for the good and betterment of our society as a whole.”

While hailing the Governor of the State, Biodun Oyebanji for rejigging the machinery of governance in the State, he lauded him for according the traditional institution in the State the requisite recognition and reverence.

“Since the commencement of BAO’s Administration in October 2022, Ekiti State has been on the glorious March to greatness. He has rejigged the machinery of governance in Ekiti State. As a matter of fact, he has put in place various palliative measures to deal with the effects of the subsidy removal and its challenges. 

“In the process, he has accorded the traditional institution in Ekiti State the requisite recognition and reverence. It is my fervent prayers that his tenure that started well shall end well and Ekiti State shall continue to do well and attain greatness throughout his tenure and beyond.”

In his response, Oyebanji, represented by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, lauded the efforts of the Monarch in the creation of Ekiti state in 1996.

While praying for good health and prosperity, she pledged that the administration of Governor Oyebanji will not disappoint the throne.

Also, the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose saluted Oba Aladesanmi’s efforts in bringing unity in Ado-Ekiti, adding that he has proven to be outstanding in his ruling as the paramount ruler.

While reacting to the current administration in Ekiti, he pledged total support to Governor Oyebanji, adding that his governance has been extraordinary despite their political differences.

Other activities at the festival include diverse cultural presentations by various ethnic groups and homages to the King.
