Trump Administration Sues New York Over Immigration Policies

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the legal action on Wednesday, warning that states failing to comply with federal immigration laws would face consequences. The lawsuit follows similar action against Illinois and Chicago.

“New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops today,” Bondi said, citing state policies that prevent law enforcement from checking immigration status during traffic stops and notifying undocumented immigrants of federal inquiries.

Trump has pledged mass deportations and claims undocumented migrants pose a national security threat, despite studies showing no significant link between immigration and crime rates.

The lawsuit is part of Trump’s broader crackdown on sanctuary cities, which refuse to cooperate fully with federal immigration authorities.
