The wedding fatiha of the children of Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin attracted an array of high-profile dignitaries in Abuja yesterday.
The ceremony, which took place at the National Mosque after the two raka’at Juma’at prayers, celebrated the union of Jibrin Barau Jibrin (Abba) and Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi, as well as Aisha Barau Jibrin and Engineer Abubakar Abdulmunaf, son of Dr. Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, President of Azman Group of Companies.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu played a key role, serving as both Wakil and Waliy for Senator Barau’s children, represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), acted as Waliy for the bride, Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero. Similarly, Senator Tanko Almakura, former Nasarawa State Governor, served as Wakil for Engineer Abubakar.
The event was officiated by Professor Ibrahim Maqari, the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, and was attended by a host of prominent figures, including governors, senators, ministers, business moguls, and traditional rulers from across Nigeria.
Governors in attendance included Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State, Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
The Senate was also well-represented, with attendees such as former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Senators Ali Ndume, Sani Musa, Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, and many others.
Key figures from the Presidency were present, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; and other special aides.
