Three Principal Officers of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, have been appointed in acting capacities.
The appointees are Mr. Sunday Adeyemi-Adejolu as Acting Registrar; Mrs. Deborah Olotuah as Acting Bursar and Dr. Mufutao Asiru as Acting Librarian.
The letter conveying their appointments reads that “the appointments has become necessary due to the absence of the Governing Council at this time and will terminate when substantive officers are appointed by the Governing Council”.
The appointments of Mr. S.A Adeyemi-Adejolu and Mrs. D.K. Olotuah follows the expiration of the five years tenure of Mrs. Kehinde Ekanem as the Registrar and Mr. Kehinde Omodara as the Bursar.
Dr. Asiru on his part took over from Mrs. Margaret Abifarin who has been in acting capacity as the Polytechnic Librarian. The change in baton of the Polytechnic Librarian is in accordance with the extant rules which stipulates that a Principal Officer must not be in acting capacity for more than six months.
The new Acting Registrar, Mrs. S.A. Adeyemi-Adejolu joined the services of the Polytechnic as a Senior Assistant Registrar in November 2000 as its Public Relations Officer.
He rose through the ranks and served in various Polytechnic Committees and became the pioneer Director of the Directorate of Protocol, Information and Public Relations.
Mr. Adeyemi-Adejolu, a 1987 graduate of the University of Lagos, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations served as the Polytechnic Spokesperson for about 23 years. He is happily married and blessed with children who are finding their feet in the spheres of life.
Mrs. D.K. Olotuah, a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (FCA) joined the services of the Polytechnic in 2006 as a Chief Accountant.
Mrs. Olotuah, before her current appointment was a non statutory Director in charge of Finance and Fiscal Report in the Polytechnic Bursary.
She is a 1982 Higher National Diploma graduate of Yaba College of Technology Lagos and also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ado Ekiti (UNAD), now Ekiti State University (EKSU).
She had previously worked in Ondo State Polytechnic, now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, University of Ado Ekiti and the Adekunle Ajasin University.
She is happily married with Children and grandchildren.
Dr. M.A. Asiru who joined the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti in 2013 as a Librarian 1, holds a PhD in Library and Information Science from the Adeleke University Ede, 2022. He also holds a Diploma in Journalism, a BA (Ed) and a Masters Degree in Library, Archival and Information Studies.
Dr. Asiru is a member of various committees in the Polytechnic. He is happily married and blessed with children.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Principal Officers who formally assumed their new positions of responsibilities today being Monday, 11th December, 2013, have been charged to shun every form of interference and sustain the peaceful relationship, understanding and unity of purpose for effective service delivery.
The Rector, Dr. Temitope John Alake who gave the charge at the handing over ceremony of the outgone Registrar, Bursar and Acting Librarian held on Friday, 8th December, 2023 noted that the offices of the outgone officers were sensitive, hence the urgent need to write to the appropriate quarters and an approval obtained for these appointments.
Alake, also urged them to be transparent in their day to day activities and make judicious use of the knowledge deposited in them, to move the Institution forward as the main reason why anyone of such status was put in such positions is to mainly solve problems.
While appreciating the outgone officers for the notable and immeasurable contributions to the development of the Polytechnic and the sincerity of purpose affirmed while working with him, he admonished them not to relent in their service for the betterment of their environment and humanity in general.
The Rector, urged them not to be far from the Institution as they can be called upon from time to time. He prayed for God’s guidance and sustenance as they carry on in the journey of life.
In her remarks, the outgone Registrar, Mrs. Kehinde Ekanem appreciated God for bringing her thus far, thanked the Principal Officers and the members of staff for working hand in glove with her office for effective and efficient service delivery.
Mrs. Ekanem charged the Acting Registrar, Mr. Adeyemi Adejolu to put God first in whatever he does, be responsible and firm in the implementation of the laws, rules and regulations guiding the Polytechnic.
In his own remarks, the outgone Bursar, Mr. Kehinde Omodara, also thanked every member of staff who has contributed immensely in one way or the other to the success recorded during his tenure in office.
Mr. Omodara assured the Institution of his unalloyed support and promised to always promote the image of the Polytechnic in the future.
The outgone Acting Librarian, Mrs. Margaret Abifarin charged the Acting Librarian to build on the foundation already laid down. She prayed for a successful time in office and the enablement to carry on in the discharge of his duties.
Responding on behalf of the newly appointed Principal Officers, the Acting Registrar Mr. Adeyemi-Adejolu noted that their appointments was a pleasant surprise as they never saw it coming.
He promised that the appointees will live up to expectations by ensuring that they work assiduously and discharge their duties to the glory of God and the benefit of humanity.
