Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed the perceived animosity among politicians, stating that most political clashes exist only for public amusement.
Speaking at his 60th birthday thanksgiving service at St. Martins’ Catholic Church, Isan Ekiti, on Sunday, Fayemi said: “What you read on social media about political fights is just for entertainment. Many would wonder why Governor Segun Oni is here today. During his birthday, I spent the whole day with him, and if Governor Ayodele Fayose were around, he would have been here too.”
He emphasized that despite party differences, Ekiti politicians share a common vision for the state. “We may belong to different parties, but we all belong to one—the Ekiti Progressive Party. Our governor is carrying on with that vision,” he added.
Reflecting on his journey, Fayemi described his 60th birthday as a moment of gratitude. “I am a product of grace, and I have many reasons to be thankful to God,” he said, appreciating Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his leadership and support.
Tinubu, Oyebanji, and Others Celebrate Fayemi
President Bola Tinubu, in his tribute, commended Fayemi’s contributions to governance and the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC). “As a two-term governor, he served despite economic challenges. His impact in Ekiti is undeniable,” Tinubu stated.
Governor Oyebanji hailed Fayemi’s legacy, calling him “a leader dedicated to service and excellence.” He thanked him for his mentorship and contributions to Ekiti’s development.
The event attracted dignitaries, including former Governors Niyi Adebayo and Segun Oni, Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, and other top political figures.
