Police Confirm Death Of Four Young Men While Swimming In Ekiti River

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, a distress call was received on Sunday regarding the unfortunate incident.

The victims, identified as a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old native of Okemesi-Ekiti, were swimming in the Osun River along the Ajindo/Idoile road. They were accompanied by two friends who had traveled from Lagos State to attend a burial ceremony in the area.

The four young men, unfortunately, drowned in the river.” The PPRO stated.

He further noted that there have been multiple cases of drowning reported across various rivers in Nigeria, resulting in significant loss of lives.

The Police Command has since urged residents and visitors to exercise caution around rivers, especially during the current season, to prevent similar tragedies.
