Police Bust Syndicate Selling Human Body Parts For Rituals

Police spokesperson Adewale Osifeso confirmed the arrests on Friday, stating that detectives at the Iyaganku Divisional Police Headquarters acted on a crucial tip-off.

During the operation, officers recovered a female human torso, severed limbs, and dried bones stored in bags and a paint bucket. One suspect admitted to digging up a corpse from a cemetery in Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State, and selling the remains.

A second suspect, a septuagenarian, was also arrested for allegedly buying human body parts. The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probes.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Ademola, has urged cemetery managers to tighten security and advised transporters to inspect passengersā€™ luggage carefully to prevent aiding such crimes.
