PCRC Advises Citizens On Timely Information Of Security Breaches

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has urged citizens to provide timely and useful information on security breaches in their communities to security agencies for quick intervention. 

Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari, Zone 12  Chairman of the Committee, comprising of Bauchi and Gombe, made the call while interacting with the pinpointnews correspondent  in Bauchi. 

He noted that citizens are always reluctant to volunteer useful information that could assist the securities, especially the police in fighting crimes.

Maigari said the nation was passing through challenging period in terms of national security due to activities of insurgents, banditry, kidnapping and criminal elements in the society. 

According to him, police cannot be everywhere, but citizens are and their inputs is very necessary to enable the security agencies curb or eradicate insecurity in the country.

“Citizens find it difficult to provide information to the police and other security agencies that would curb  crimes in their immediate communities.

“Maintaining peace and security is everybody’s business, therefore, don’t leave everything in the hands of police or security agencies alone,”he said.

The Vice Chairman, urged residents to take more interest in happenings around their immediate environments.

He also called on the citizens to be security conscious, especially in places like markets, banks, motor parks, airports, entertainment houses, among others.

“PCRC will continue to sensitise and intensify awareness campaigns on relationships with police and other security agencies to tackle security challenges in the country.

“While security agencies are doing their best in their responsibility of policing the society, there is also need for citizens to create robust partnership and synergy to achieve a high level of safety and security in the country,”Maigari said. 

He urged citizens to gain the confidence of the police and complement their efforts in fighting crime and criminalities in the country.

Maigari reiterated that PCRC would continue to work with the police and as well provide credible information that would ensure peace and security of the country.
