A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo, has commended the astute disaster management skill of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, saying his promptness in addressing issues of that nature has mitigated the victims’ sufferings.

The former Senior Legislative aide, also lauded Governor Oyebanji for undertaking massive dredging of some notable canals plunging Ekiti into cases of flooding and colossal destruction of property across Ado Ekiti metropolis during torrential downpour.

The Osun – Ekiti, Moba Local Government area born politician,  gave the commendation, in a statement made available to journalists, in Ado Ekiti.

Adedayo saluted Governor Oyebanji’s prompt reflex to giving palliatives and financial assistance to victims of rainstorm in Oke -Ako and Ijesa- Isu Ekiti, describing the gestures as accentuating and promoting  good governance and kindness to humanity.

He said the governor’s proclivity and receptive idea to kindness were commendable, in view of the administrative bottlenecks being encountered by victims of such in the past in accessing government’s aids.

The APC chieftain, said; “Barely 24 hours after the rooftops of over 100 buildings were blown off in Oke- Ako Ekiti, the government’s delegation visited the town to appraise the level of damage.

“It was exhilarating and heartwarming that Governor Biodun Oyebanji approved a sum of N24 million to be distributed to the victims barely a week after the assessment was done. This was unprecedented in the  history of our dear state.

“People still remembered with excruciating pains the bottlenecks the victims were subjected to before accessing such succour in the past. Such unwholesome protocols had been broken under Governor Oyebanji to promote welfarist and good governance”.

Adedayo described as applaudable, the dredging of notably susceptible waterways constituting danger to Ekiti during rainfall in preparedness for the  warnings handed down by the Nigerian Meteriological Agency (NIMET ) that some states may be subsumed by flood in 2023.

He said this had further amplified how passionate Governor Oyebanji is to the general wellbeing of those who elected him as governor.

“Today, the current government is undertaking massive dredging of canals and waterways across Ekiti to curtail incidences of flooding that had destroyed multi-million property and killed scores of our residents.

“Massive dredging is ongoing on Ureje River , which stretches from Ajilosun to Federal Polytechnic road to Eminrin area of Ado Ekiti to curtail flooding and loss of lives and property.

“Dredging and construction work are also being undertaken on Elemi river along Afao road to its extension at Opopogbooro , a suburb of Adebayo area of the capital city, among other areas.

“These are aside from aggressive rehabilitation of roads in Ado Ekiti capital city and many inter-state roads that are under construction.

“All these are signs that we have a governor who has the political will to usher in the needed succour that we deserve.

“Bringing Governor Oyebanji to saddle of governance as not being regrettable to any Ekiti man, rather it has become a pride to APC, his party, and the generality of Ekiti people”, Adedayo stated.
