The outgoing Head of Service in Ekiti State, Engr. Sunday Olanrewaju Komolafe has identified the humane nature of the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as the greatest asset that aids the success recorded during his tenure in office.
The 10th substantive Head of Service for Ekiti State Public Service stated this on Wednesday at a press conference organised for his retirement at the Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.
Giving his stewardship account, Engr. Komolafe said he was proud that the multi-pronged approach to enhancing good governance and efficiency in the Public Service yielded good fruits as workers enjoyed unfettered career progression, training, better welfare package and merit-based appointment/recruitment into the State Public Service.
Highlighting his scorecards, the HOS was able to procure thirty-five (35) units of laptop computers for the CHAMPION chosen by the office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD) across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies for timeous collation of data for policy formulation.
Also, in his bid to ameliorate the shortage of vehicles experienced by MDAs, he was able to set up task force on Assessment of Government vehicles.
In the area of appointment, the outgoing HOS equally ensured transparency in the appointment of 75 Technical Teachers/Instructor and Education Officers to fill vacant positions in the Board for Technical and vocational education, recruitment of 179 Education Officers/ Assistant Education Officers in the eight Government Colleges and 27 Special Education Officers to fill vacant positions in three Special Schools all in the Ministry of Education.
Among other achievements as stated by Engr. Sunday Komolafe include regularisation of the appointment of 326 eligible temporary junior staff in 17 ministrial Departments and Agencies to permanent appointment in order to strengthen the Civil Service for effective and efficient service delivery.
In addition to this, there’s enhancement of the Public Servant career through merit-based competitive examinations and interview that produced the appointment of five Permanent Secretaries, seven General Managers and five Executive Secretaries.
Engr. Sunday Komolafe was able to maintain labour relationship by having regular interface with the Labour Unions to ensure industrial harmony in the State.
As he is bowing out of service, Komolafe appreciated the Governor of the State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji for the confidence reposed in him to lead Ekiti workers.
