Old Students Call For Establishment of Tertiary Institution In Ayedun-Ekiti

The appeal was made in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend by the Secretary, Publicity Committee of the set, Prince Adeniyi Adekunle.

Regretting the fact that the secondary school where they all passed out in 1987 is no more existing, as the old students will be marking the golden jubilee of their defunct Alma Mater this month, they have urged President Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji to site an institution that would serve the people of the community and its environ for the purpose and benefit of the numerous youths that are willing to further their education beyond secondary level.

Activities marking the 50th anniversary of the defunct school as contained in the statement commence with football match competition between Odundun and Fiyinfolu High School, Ayedun – Ekiti, on Sunday 27th and Monday 28th October, 2024 from 9:00am to 11:00 am prompt.

The statement further reveals that reunion and get together, local games as well as refreshment would hold between 2:00pm and 4:00pm prompt. While members are all expected to appear in white.

Other lined up activities for the second day of the event include; candle procession from the defunct school gate at 10:00 O’clock in the morning with white attire, green/pink vein or muffler that would carry the inscription of Compro @ 50 with the engagement of a life band (brigade).

Adding that award would be conferred on Prof. J.K. Aremu, while posthumous awards would be conferred on late Mr. Ajayi Jacob and late Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin.

Expected dignitaries at the epoch-making event are traditional rulers of the three communities in the area, all the school principals, both private and public, the Area Education Officer, local government Chairmen and Secretary.

The statement therefore enjoins all 1987 set of the school to present at the two-day event, and participate actively.
