NSCDC Commandant General Leads Groundbreaking for 102 Housing Units as Developer Pledges Quality

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by the Commandant General (CG), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, who reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring affordable housing for officers and men of the Corps.

Dr. Audi expressed his satisfaction in personally performing the groundbreaking, emphasizing that the project aligns with his vision for a comprehensive welfare package for NSCDC personnel. He assured that he would closely monitor the construction to guarantee timely completion and adherence to high standards.

The project developer, Engr. Lawrence Okenyi, Managing Director of Intergre Brand Ltd, assured that the new housing units would be built to the highest quality. He highlighted the importance of engaging indigenous companies in large-scale projects, stressing that local expertise is key to delivering durable and well-structured buildings.

Speaking at the event, the President of the NSCDC National Headquarters Cooperative Society, Assistant Commandant Isa Yusuf, praised the CG’s unwavering support, which enabled the cooperative to embark on and achieve such a remarkable initiative. He reiterated the society’s dedication to providing more affordable housing options for personnel.

Several dignitaries were present at the ceremony, including the Branch Manager of First Bank Airport Branch, Mr. Atoika Taimako, and the Managing Director of AG Mortgage, Mr. Ngozi Anyagwu, who delivered goodwill messages in support of the initiative.

The 102 housing units will consist of a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom flats, further expanding the Corps’ efforts to address the housing needs of its personnel.
