No Room for Failure, Upscale your Productivity, Ekiti Dep Gov Charges Workers     … as govt organises seminar for public servants 

Mrs Afuye noted that Oyebanji considered the civil servants as the engine room of government in policy execution, this she said, necessitated  why the government has provided good welfare packages for civil servants to actualise the dream of turning Ekiti into a cynosure of all eyes in service delivery.

The Deputy Governor said these in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, while declaring open a one-day in-house training organised for all the workers in her office.

According to a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, Mrs Afuye, urged that the workers to consider themselves as allies and partners to Governor Oyebanji  in the task of building Ekiti that would attain and savour socio-economic development and political stability in all facets.

Mrs Afuye stated that the seminar was conceived to sharpen the mental capacities of workers  and broaden their horizons, for optimal service delivery expected in the civil service.

Describing the seminar as apt and timely, the Deputy Governor stated that it was strategically organised to accommodate refreshing learnings in basic tenets of Public Service Rules and Regulations, Protocol and Security Management and tips on basic healthcare delivery.

“The office considers it necessary to put together this training at this crucial time to curtail the ugly trend of misbehaviour pervading the service; to encourage officers handling issues relating to your welfare and wellbeing to improve on their strategies and to expose you to less expensive ways of living a healthy life. 

“The third pillar of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s government is Human Capital Development. It is aimed at developing the proficiency of workers across the public service. That is why we brought this training to your doorstep. 

“Given the foregoing, I advise you to maximize the opportunity provided by this training to equip yourselves well for proper handling of your official duties. After this, I won’t entertain any excuse or lapse or failure”, she cautioned. 

In his submission at the seminar, the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, Mr Abayomi Opeyemi, said the competences, ingenuity  and innovative actions being taken by workers would help in the success of any administration, saying the  seminar was geared towards achieving these. 

Opeyemi appealed to the workers to always give the best in their services to the state, assuring that their would be rewards for hardwork, honesty, prudence, professionalism and transparency displayed by them at the appropriate time.

Delivering his lecture on ‘Basic Tenets of Public Service Rules and Regulations’, a retired Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Shittu Aremu, urged the workers to always act as obedient servants, by being professional and treat information at their disposals with utmost confidentiality.

Shittu urged them to always make surfeit of contributions to the actualisation of government policies and programmes, embrace transparency, probity and shun corrupt enrichment that can constitute a snag to frictionless execution of policies.

In his lecture entitled: ‘Understanding the Dynamics of of Protocol Assignments and Security Management’, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Oluwadare Ajayi, warned the security and protocol officers against working at cross purposes, saying this could endanger the life of their principal.

Ajayi harped on the imperative of the officers working together harmoniously and treat all classified information with highest degree of secrecy to avert predisposing their principal to unwarranted danger and embarrassment. 

Harping on the need for the staff to be conscious of their wellness, a Medical Doctor and resource person, Dr. Olumide Obe, asked the workers to refrain from drug abuse , excessive consumption of alcohol, smoking and indulgence in practices that can endanger their health and hamper their productivity.

Obe advised them to embrace less expensive health tips like regular exercises, medical check ups, eating less of cholesterol laced delicacies and refrain from performance -enhanced substances that can be pernicious to their wellbeing.
