A 27-year-old Nigerian woman, Patricia Masithela, has died following a brutal attack by a pack of stray dogs in Latina, Italy. The tragic incident happened on Monday night while she was visiting an abandoned villa in the Lazio region.
According to reports, Patricia had recently relocated to the area from Nigeria and was at the villa to see a male acquaintance, unaware that he was not at home. Her cries for help alerted neighbors, but the attack left her with critical injuries.
Emergency services found her in a pool of blood with severe bite wounds across her body. Despite prompt medical attention and being rushed to Santa Maria Goretti Hospital, Patricia succumbed to her injuries due to excessive blood loss.
Local police shot two of the dogs to secure the scene, while the remaining animals fled after gunfire. Authorities have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the attack, including how the dogs came to be in the area.
Patricia, a mother to a five-year-old daughter, leaves behind grieving family and friends. The incident has sparked debates on stray animal control and public safety, with calls for stricter measures to prevent similar tragedies.
