Man, 40, Appears Before Ikeja Magistrates’ Court For Alleged Stealing

A 40-year-old man, Edmund Njoku, has appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining more than N2 million on false pretence of installing an aluminum window for someone.

The defendant, an architect, who resides at 5, Amah Nnach St., Isheri Olofin, Kosofe, Lagos, was tried for obtaining by false pretence and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Racheal Williams told the court that the offences were committed on February 2022 at Isheri Olofin, Kosofe , Lagos.

Williams said that the defendant obtained N2.150, 000 million from Mr Chinedu Ugwu on false pretence of fabricating and installing an aluminium window to his site.

He said that the defendant failed to fabricate nor install the aluminium window and refused to refund the money.

The offences according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr F. O Ameen granted the defendant to bail of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ameen adjourned the case until May 30 for mention.
