LG Chair, Bamikole Tasks New Supervisors, Advisers On Optimal Performance           … as they take oath of office

The Chairman made the appeal on Thursday during the swearing in ceremony of the appointees held at the Local Government Secretariat in Ise Ekiti. 

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Bamikole appreciated the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for allowing democracy to thrive in Ekiti in spite of the State’s meagre resources. Saying that the occasion is significant in many respects, but most striking as it marks the end of the old order into a new dispensation in which Supervisors and Advisers are now part of the Executive Arm of Government. This change is in line with the Presidential System of Government. He added.

The Chairman said that the inclusion of Councillors into Legislative Arm of Government and vesting of Executive Powers in the Chairmen was to bring Presidential system of government to the grassroots and to allow for greater accountability on the part of the various Arms of Government as well as encourage effective representation of the desires and will of the governed. Adding that It will also ensure a system of checks and balances which are needed for the growth of democracy.

In his word, “the occasion we are witnessing today will bring about efficiency in the Local Government Service because by virtue of the appointment of Supervisors and Advisers, they are responsible to the Chairman.They cannot afford to be bystanders or reluctant participants in the execution of the laudable projects and programmes of this administration”

The Council boss explained that all the appointees were well screened and found worthy of the appointments. Adding that they are all versatile men and women who have demonstrated their unwavering commitments to the people of Ise/Orun Local Government. 

“Their competence and achievements in their various callings have qualified them for the positions for which they are being sworn into today. I have no doubt about their integrity, I also feel assured of their collective and individual support for this administration. I know that they will be assets to this Local Government as we forge ahead in our commitment to better the lots of the people of Ise/Orun Local Government and since one of the criteria of their selection is the geographical spread of the Local Government, their impacts will be felt far and wide.

While wishing the appointees a successful tenure in office,  Hon. Bamikole said they have a rare opportunity in laying precedents for subsequent successors. 

“I use this opportunity to publicly enjoin you to strive hard to serve Ise/Orun Local Government meritoriously, bring renewed vigour to your departments and build on what had been done by former Supervisors and Advisers. I also want to caution you against the misuse of your vantage position as the political heads of your departments or units. Do not compromise the sterling qualities that qualified you for this post.” The Chairman warned.

The newly sworn in Supervisors are; Gbenga Omolayo (Agric & Natural Resources), Ajayi Samuel Adesoji (Health), Yemisi Ogunlade  (Environment) and Opeyemi Ofere (Works). While the Advisers are; Olofe Ebenezer (Political), Ogunsına Olalekan Sunday (Youth & Sport), Tope Alaje ( Gender), Abdulsalam Sakaudeen Omalayo (Education & Community Dev) and Awe kolawole (IGR).

Present at the occasion were, the Hon. Commissioner for Employment and Wealth Creation, Otunba Kayode Fasae, Vice Chairman, Ise/Orun Local Government, Leader of the Legislative Council of the local government, Honourable Councillors, Secretary to the Local Government, Head of Local Government Administration, Top Government Functionaries, Party Leaders, Party faithfuls and Invited guests,
