LAGOS: No Member Of Our Personnel Is On Land Grabbers’ Payroll — FCID

By Blessing Teniola

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, says no member of its personnel is on the payroll of land grabbers in Lagos.

This is contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson, ASP Aminat Mayegun in Lagos today.

Mayegun said the statement became necessary in view of a video clip trending on social media plaforms.

She said that the video had a man identified as Mr Olufemi Fasheun, alleging audibly that “Police Officers from Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, were on the payroll of Land-Grabbers”.

The image maker, who said the allegation was false, stressed that the FCID Annex Lagos finds it very disheartening that a supposed highly enlightened individual could make such allegations against the personnel of the department, without verifiable facts.

“In this regard, therefore, the FCID Annex, Alagbon Lagos, deemed it imperative to set the records straight by making these clarifications:

“That the allegations by Mr Oufemi Fasheun against personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (especially against officers of the FCID Annex Lagos) are false, malicious and misleading.

“Such unfounded allegations were mainly intended to weaponise public sentiments against the Police and elicit sympathy for him,”she said.

Mayegun said that issues pertaining to ownership of land were purely civil in nature and can best be resolved by the courts, and not the police.

She pointed out that Fasheun had failed to identify or mention the officers he accused of being on the payroll of land-grabbers’ in Lagos, or the circumstances surrounding such situations, if any.

“If indeed Mr Fasheun is aware of the existence of such arrangements between Land-Grabbers and Police Officers in the FCID Annex, Alagbon Close, he is encouraged to bring forth such evidence for discreet investigation.

“Members of the public are enjoined to disregard/ignore the allegations/claims made by Mr. Fasheun against officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos.

“The video clip containing the offending statements against the officers of the Force is currently being analysed by the Legal Unit of the department, to enable informed decision on the matter,” she said.

The image maker assured the public of the commitment and dedication of the entire personnel of the NPF in Lagos, (especially officers of the FCID Annex).

She called for the support and cooperation of residents in Lagos State.
