Jagun Jagun, a Netflix’s original Yoruba film produced by Femi Adebayo Salami and the family drama The Weekend emerged as major winners at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
Celebrating its 20th edition, AMAA took place on November 2, 2024, at the Balmoral Convention Center in Lagos.
The 2024 AMAA ceremony honored both newcomers and seasoned professionals, presenting awards across 26 categories in film.
A jury led by filmmaker and curator Dorothee Wenner evaluated the nominated films. Among the top winners of the night was the Nigerian-directed drama The Weekend, which claimed the “Best Film Award” for Nigeria and Africa.
Notably, Nigerian filmmaker Femi Adebayo received the “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” award for his performance in the historical thriller Jagun Jagun.
