MARY IMMACULATE SCHOOL OLD STUDENTS GIVE FACELIFT TO THEIR ALMA MATER

Team GB Members

Out of the ’83 set, five of the old students based in England decided to give back to the school by renovating its dilapidated buildings as they put their resources together to achieve the goal.

Those engaged in this task are Bimbo Ogunye, Yemisi Omotoye Odesanya, Toyin Adams, Joke  Davies and  Adu Isaac.

The team is carrying out the initiative because of what it described as ‘dilapidated DANGEROUS buildings’ of our old secondary school.

Adding that, “charity begins at home and our Alma mater is the chosen one.We are united by IMMASCO Project. It’s all about charitable impactful projects for our old secondary school”.

The five-member body opined that, the sole meaning of life is to serve humanity. The group pointed  out that there is no higher religion than human service, and to work for the common good is the greatest creed. According to the team,  ‘those who are happiest are those who do the most for others especially in children’s education not related  to them.

The old students condemned the position of the State government on education as they remarked that the government cannot even pay the teachers’ full salaries in some schools, not to talk of renovating dangerous buildings in schools across the state.

The ‘Team GB’ members are optimistic that time is coming when Mary Immaculate School will be closer in terms of infrastructural  excellence to schools like the Christ School Ado Ekiti and  St Louis Ikere Ekiti, that look like European and American schools with thanks to their Alumni who focused  on Infrastructure upgrade and maintenance without waiting for what they described as state government’s zero budget on education.

“Our old secondary school is falling apart before our very eyes and all of us can’t look away or go there ONLY to take Pictures honestly! The Greatest sin is to do nothing because you can only do a little. Ninety percent of the school infrastructure needs attention. We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drops were not there, the ocean would be missing something”.

The group noted that generous efforts to bring happiness to the students will be a happier life for everyone . To them, money raised for serious challenges will make a lot of difference to the young students’ studies.

“You have done something for the students who can never repay you.  In fact we have not lived today until we have done something for someone who can never repay us. Your rewards will be in multiple folds for your children and grandchildren. A man doesn’t plant a tree for himself, he plants it for Posterity.”

“Team GB” England’s huge cash donations for school’s renovation is a token of appreciation, and a way of giving back to an institution that contributed immensely to the journeys of our lives.
