The Commissioner for Youth in Ekiti State, Mr. Adesola Gold Adedayo, has disclosed that his ministry is working with some other ministries in the State as well as the Office of the First Lady of Ekiti State to introduce some life changing programmes that would transform the youths in the State for better.
The Commissioner made the disclosure while playing host to some journalists in his office in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.
Honourable Adedayo, said that the Governor of Ekiti State is very passionate about the Youths of Ekiti. He pointed out that this is based on the data he’s having at his disposal which already indicates that 70% of the population of Ekiti State are youths.
“My advocacy to the governor is that he should solve the 70% of Ekiti problems. If the Governor is able to touch the lives of Ekiti Youths, that means he has secured for himself and all of us ambassadors in respective homes because we know from the data available to us that there’s at least one youth in every home in Ekiti.
“I don’t know how long am going to be in the office, but as long as I resume to the office everyday as Commissioner, I will do my best to see what I can do to add value to the life of an Ekiti person. My activities as far as my appointment is concerned in Ekiti is going to be hundred percent youth-based. Said the Commissioner.
While appreciating the journalists for all they have been doing to project his image even before his appointment, Adedayo stated that, the press can decide to polish you very well and you will be shining to the world. They can also do otherwise.
“I want to appreciate you for your contributions to where I am today. Am sure you know me more than I know myself. I know you people have the history of everybody that is living, even the dead. I thank you for all that you have been able to do to help me by putting me in proper perspective before the people of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large”
Reacting to some suggestions offered by journalists which could be very useful to the success of his ministry, the Commissioner explained that he has presented his work plans for the remaining part of this year including every other Ministry.
He added that they are only waiting to synergize with the Governor on what to do, saying the bulk of what to be done is skills acquisition for young people.
According to him, “we know that government cannot employ everybody. The best that government can do at all levels is to enhance the youths by developing their skills. Some of them have God’s given talents that are hidden in them. We are trying to organise training programmes, development programmes, skills acquisition for young persons”.
The Osun-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State born Commissioner, therefore solicited more of the journalists’ support at projecting his activities from time to time.
“I want to humbly request that you be my partners in progress just like you have been doing before as I put in my best to have an impact in the life of an ordinary Ekiti youth. Ekiti is known for integrity. We are special”. Honourable Adedayo concluded.
