Foundation Flags Off Public Health Facility Clients’ Drive Campaign in Ekiti State

The Worldsmith Life Builders’ Foundation (WOLIBUF) has officially launched its Public Health Facility Clients’ Drive Campaign at the Basic Health Centre, Aaye, Igede Ekiti. This initiative, aimed at promoting safe maternal and infant health, witnessed the participation of 59 pregnant women.

WOLIBUF, an Ado-Ekiti-based non-governmental organization, is committed to child health, education, public health advocacy, elderly care, and campaigns against social vices.

The Executive Director of WOLIBUF, Mrs. Olukemi Akinleye, emphasized that the programme was conceived in response to the rising complications and fatalities recorded during childbirth due to the patronage of unqualified birth attendants by expectant mothers. She reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to encouraging women to utilize public health institutions for deliveries, thereby reducing infant and maternal mortality rates in Ekiti State.

In his remarks, Hon. Ayodeji Owoeye, the Supervisor for Health in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, commended WOLIBUF for the intervention, noting that public health institutions are equipped with top-notch facilities and qualified personnel to handle maternal health cases. He assured the Foundation of the local government’s support in ensuring that the campaign achieves its desired outcomes.

The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of WOLIBUF, Barrister Mrs. Bolanle Wale-Awe, urged women to embrace public health institutions for safe deliveries and motherhood. She highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Ekiti State Government’s significant investments in the health sector and encouraged residents to take full advantage of the healthcare resources available in the State.

During the programme, Miss Oyinsolape Akinleye, the Foundation’s Family Health Specialist, delivered a comprehensive health talk on pregnancy, preparation for childbirth, and infant care. She urged pregnant women to make themselves available for all arranged ante-natal programmes for their safety and that of their babies.

Miss Christianah Adediran, the Foundation’s Programme Officer, outlined the project’s objectives, assuring participants that the intervention is designed to be a continuous effort rather than a one-time event.

To further support expectant mothers, child delivery kits and infant care materials were distributed, reinforcing WOLIBUF’s commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes in Ekiti State.

WOLIBUF remains dedicated to supporting the State’s health sector intervention programmes and ensuring safer birthing experiences for women in underserved communities.
