The Federal Government has approved the procurement of satellite gadgets to have visual effects and monitor mining sites in the country .
Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals, Dr Dele Alake, said the measure will further reinforce the ministry’s move to curb illegal mining activities .
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Dr Alake said his ministry has adopted integrated solution framework to recognise challenges of revenue leakage in the sector .
According to him, the arrangement include persuasive and cohesive approach to enable miners pay their obligations to Nigerian state through the establishment of mines Marshalls .
Dr Alake said the move has led to emergence of over 300 miners’ corporative societies which are fully legalised and structured .
He explained that cohesive approach was adopted on recalsitrant ones which led to their conviction by law courts .
The minister called on all stakeholders to curb illegal extraction and exportation of Nigeria ‘s mineral resources reiterating that his ministry will fight such attempts.
