Fed Poly, Ado-Ekiti Granted Approval For Seven New Programmes As Ten Others Receive NBTE’s Accreditation

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti has received the nod of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to mount and commence  seven new programmes with effect from the 2022/2023 Academic Session.

Approval to commence the seven new programmes in addition to the accreditation of ten other programmes was the outcome of a recent Quality Assurance Visitation exercise by the NBTE to the Institution. The seven new programmes are:

National Diploma (ND) in Public Administration, National Diploma (ND) in Library and Information Science, National Diploma (ND) in Hospitality Management, National Diploma (ND) in Water Resources Engineering Technology, National Diploma (ND) in  Welding and Fabrication Technology, National Diploma (ND) in Mechatronics Engineering as well as Higher National Diploma (HND) in Petroleum Engineering Technology.

The NBTE’s approval of the seven new programmes is contained in a correspondence to the Polytechnic Rector by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Prof. Idris M. Bugage, as signed for him by the Director, Polytechnic Programme, Arc. Ngbede Ogoh.  

The letter granting of the seven new programmes reads; “with reference to the Resources Inspection Visitation carried out by the Board to your Institution from 10th to 14th October, 2022, I am directed to inform you that the Board has granted approval to your Institution to offer the following programmes with effect from 2022/2023 Session:”

In a related development, the NBTE has also given its nod for the full Accreditation of eight (8) programmes and the Interim Accreditation of two other programmes.

The eight programmes, which received the full accreditation of the NBTE include, four National Diploma Programmes in Taxation; Food Technology; Mechanical Engineering and 

Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology as well as four (4) Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes in Procurement and Supply Chain Management; Civil Engineering Technology, with Post Harvest Option and Farm Power and Machine Option in Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Technology.

The two National Diploma Programmes granted the NBTE’s Interim Accreditation are Mass Communication as well as Art and Design.  According to the approval letter, the Interim Accreditation was granted pending the remedy of some observed lapses in an expected Verification exercise to be conducted within one academic session.

In addition to the seven new programmes and ten accredited programmes, the Institution, is also currently playing host to the NBTE’s Quality Assurance Team for the Accreditation Visitation exercise to six (6) different programmes in the Polytechnic’s School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology.

Speaking at the plenary session in commencement of the latest exercise on Monday, 24th October, 2022, the Deputy Director of Programmes and Team Leader of the Agricultural Technology Division of the Board, Dr. Rufai Ibrahim noted that, part of the Board’s responsibility is to ensure quality of programmes run by Institutions to meet internationally accepted standard with a view to raising globally competitive graduands.

Responding, the Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye appreciated the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for its unrelenting efforts at ensuring the quality of programmes run by the Polytechnic, assuring that the Institution will strive and continue to do its best at setting the pace in quality education.
