Falana Sues Meta for $5 Million Over Alleged Privacy Violation

The suit, filed before a Lagos High Court through his lawyer, Olumide Babalola, accuses Meta of publishing a misleading video on its platform. The video, titled AfriCare Health Center, allegedly portrays Falana as suffering from Prostatitis, a claim he strongly denies.

Falana argues that the publication, which he describes as false, misleading, and unfair, violates his privacy rights as guaranteed by Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

He is seeking a court order compelling Meta to remove the video from Facebook and demanding $5 million in damages for the harm caused to his reputation.

According to Falana, the wrongful publication has subjected him to emotional distress and tarnished his long-standing public image. He insists he has never had any dealings with Meta regarding his health and maintains that the allegations in the video are entirely baseless.

The case is now before the court for determination.
