Ekiti State Police Command Cautions Car Owners, Drivers Against Car Theft

Statement made available to journalists by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Abutu Sunday ANIPR revealed that it has come to the notice of the Command that car thieves have adopted the use of Master Keys to unlock, start and remove cars from Parks and Garages.

Consequently, the Command has advised members of the public especially car owners and drivers to be extra vigilant and put in place security features that can safeguard their cars.

Car owners and drivers are therefore implored to take note of the following tips to ensure the safety of their Cars: Install a tracking System. Do not park at get-away position in.Do not park in poorly lit areas. Install an Audible Alarm System and Anti-theft Device. Do not leave your key in your car. Always be cautious. Do not leave your Car unattended to for a long period without surveying and analysing the safely of the area. Know your plate number off hand to enable the Police take immediate action in case of theft. Do not leave your original document in your Car. Do not leave your car in an isolated place. Always ensure you close all the windows completely.

While the Command will continue to monitor and thwart the nefarious activities of the hoodlums, members of the public are advised to always be vigilant, security conscious and promptly report any suspicious face or movement around their environs to the nearest Police Station or call 08062335577.
