Ekiti Spokesman, Olatunbosun Assures Online Media Chapel Of NUJ Of Govt Recognition

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information , Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun has said the Ekiti State Government, under the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji will give due recognition to the Online Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council.

The Commissioner gave the assurance today when the Chapel paid a courtesy visit to his office, in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.

He said his office will work in tandem with the Chapel, adding that their exploration into digitalisation has made them outstanding among conventional and non-conventional practitioners.

While seeking for continuous support and patronage from the chapel, he explained that his office will not operate outside  the ethics of the profession, urging the members to work towards achieving the 6-point agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

In his words, “We have an enlarged Excos to execute the 6-point agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. I want to appeal and request for your continuous support, patronage and relationship. I want you to be fair in your reportage, we will not do anything outside of the norms.”

“I have gone through your request, we will give you  due recognition. I will do whatever possible, reasonably, to put into process some of the issues raised.

The Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Ayodele Abere, lamented that since the assumption of Governor Oyebanji in office, the chapel has not been given due recognition for coverage of government events.

He noted that Online Media Chapel is the future of Journalism, adding that partnership with the state government will boost the reportage strength of the government activities.

While congratulating the Commissioner on his appointment, he said the Chapel is also ready to partner with the government in the projection of its activities and policies. “Ever since the assumption of BAO, none of Online Media Chapel has been invited to cover government events.

“We are yet to be given the recognition at the state level. Some of the benefits enjoined by our counterparts, we want that to be extended to us as well.”
