Its was a remarkable event as the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji flagged off the official disbursement of loan and presentation of Cheque to the first set of workers in the legislative service of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor at the event, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adeoye Aribasoye admonished the loan beneficiaries to use the money judiciously so that the purpose of obtaining the loan would not be jeorperdiced.
Rt Hon. Aribasoye said the importance of financial intervention of this kind cannot be overemphasized, he went on a memory lane and charged them on what to do with the loan, he enumerated some of the achievements of the seventh Assembly under his leadership within the last seven months and promised that with the support of the Executive Governor of Ekiti and other lawmakers more developmental and lofty projects would be initiated.
Underscoring his experience while he was in the civil service many years ago, the Speaker, said he knew the importance of loans to the Civil Servants as well commended Mr Governor for his giant strides in the State and for graciously approved the sum of N20million naira for the operation of the Loans Board thereby described the gesture as act of love from the Governor to the legislative workers, he sought for synergy between the House of Assembly and Assembly Service Commission.
The Chairman Assembly service Commission Hon. Kayode Fasakin in his welcome address appreciated the gesture of the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji through his representative the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye for their love and support towards the establishment of the Loans Board and promised that another round of loan will be giving to another set of workers soonest.
The Clerk of the House, Mr Tola Esan in his remarks said the Loans Board came into limelight during the 7th Assembly as well appreciated the Speaker and other lawmakers for their dedication in making Ekiti State House of Assembly a force to reckon with and urged the beneficiaries to maintained accountability and remembered that it was a revolving loan and not a national cake.
Responding on behalf of the loan beneficiaries, Mr John Olusegun Ajigbena appreciated the good works of the 7th Assembly, the Chairman Commission and the board members, he discribed them as game changers, round peg in a round hole adding that the loan will go a long way in solving the current economic realities.
The Chairman, Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (Ekiti State Chapter) Comrade Gbenga Oluwajuyigbe thanked the Governor of Ekiti State Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye for initiating a lasting legacy in the legislative service of Ekiti State, he also used the medium to seek for education loan for staff who are aiming to further in their education and appealed to the beneficiaries not to misuse the loan.
