The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has apprehended several suspects across the state as part of its efforts to ensure a safe and secure festive season.
The Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Olu Adewa, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Corps’ Head of Communications, Adeleye Adewale, titled “Suspects Arrested for Series of Crimes in Ekiti.”
Adewa reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to minimizing criminal activities in the state, stating, “The Corps is unrelenting in its bid to reduce crime to the barest minimum.”
Arrests and Recoveries
Among those arrested is a 22-year-old man, Sunday Ojo, accused of stealing a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FU481H on Tosa Street in Odooro, Ekiti East Local Government Area.
Additionally, two other suspects, residents of Efon Alaaye but originally from Benue State, were apprehended for allegedly stealing yam tubers and a TVS motorcycle from the farm of Mr. Ajewole Segun.
Upon interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crimes, admitting to conspiring against the complainant.
Next Steps
All arrested individuals, along with recovered stolen items, have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
The Ekiti Amotekun Corps assured residents of continued vigilance and proactive measures to maintain peace and security throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
