For criminals to be getting rid of in Ekiti State, the people of the State and Nigerians in general have been advised to always keep watch on the people around them.
This advice was given by the Commander of Agro Marshals in Ekiti, Honourable Olamide Oni on Friday while parading some suspected criminals at the Command Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.
Speaking with journalists, the Commander said that one Azeez Isiaka (28) raped a 15-year old girl at Iyin-Ekiti in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Thursday.
In his word, “the Agro Marshal men at Iyin-Ekiti got an information that somebody is raping a girl and they went there. When they got there, the rapist engaged in a serious fight with the Agro Marshal men. They wanted to escape but our men were able to get one of them while the other one ran away.
As at time the suspect was being paraded, the little girl was said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Ado-Ekiti. Exhibits found with the suspect are two full bags of Indian hemp.
In another development, the Agro Marshal men at Ijan-Ekiti in Gboyin Local Government Area of the State, received an information that somebody stole two kegs of fuel from one Mr. Olayemi Olalekan (38)
On enquiry, one Suberu Yaya (28) who identified himself as an hunter was suspected to have stolen the two kegs of fuel and was traced with the hunters’ uniform.
“When he was arrested, he made useful statement to the Agro Marshals men which informed the decision of the security agents to surmon the complainant, Olalekan to the office who claimed that Yaya stole the two kegs of fuel from him at gun point”.
On recovering the gun, the Commander explained that the complainant, Olayemi Olalekan was discovered to be one of the syndicates that usually siphoned fuel from the cargo airport of Ekiti State which he said he has been doing for long.
“We went to his house where he gave us another eight kegs that he has siphoned in the past and there have been complaints that they have been siphoning the fuel in the cargo airport which belongs to the Ekiti State Government and that he has been selling it”.
Exhibits found with the suspect include one locally made gun, two motor bikes with the hunters’ uniform which was used to trace him.
While promising to transfer their case to the police for further investigation and prosecution, the Commander equally assured members of the public that whoever offers useful information about criminals and criminalities will always be protected as he maintained that the right thing will be done to ensure that justice prevail.
