Delta State First Lady, Dame Okowa Donates Clinic To Inmates

Wife of Delta Governor, Dame Edith Okowa has inaugurated  a modern clinic for inmates in Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Centre, in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the State.

The clinic which was  built and equipped by the ”05 Initiative”, is an initiative of the governor’s wife.

Inaugurating the project, Dame Okowa said that the clinic  was a fulfillment of the promise she made in 2022 when she celebrated her birthday with the inmates.

She noted that the ”05 Initiative” would become a foundation that would outlive her tenure in impacting lives.

Dame Okowa,  lauded all the ”05 Initiative” partners  including Zenith Bank plc for their  support.

According to her, the 05 Initiative has consistently, visited the five correctional centres in the state and donated drugs and food items to ensure the wellbeing of the inmates.

In his remarks, the Comptroller of Correction centre, Delta Command, Mr Babafemi  Jaiyeoba  commended the governor’s wife  for her support for correctional centres in the state.

He expressed optimism that the wife of the Governor-elect, Mrs Tobore Oborevwori would continue with the good works. In a message titled: “Taking back what the enemy has stolen”, Lady Chineze Onya-Odike, a member of the 05 Initiative  said the devil was the spiritual thief who is out to steal, kill and destroy homes and lives.

Onya-Odike urged the inmates to focus on Jesus Christ, irrespective of their challenges.

Dame Okowa later inspected the facility and handed over  drugs to the Comptroller for onward distribution to the five correctional  centres in the State.
