Court Remands Skit Maker “Trinity”, Two Others In Oyo

A Family Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of popular skit maker, ” Trinity ”  Maruf Abdullahi , 31, at Agodi Correctional facility, for alleged sexually exploited a 10-year old girl.

The Police also charged Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat, 29, who were parents of the victim on two-count of conspiracy and sexual abuse and exploitation, alongside the skit maker, Abdullahi.

The Magistrate, Mrs P. O. Adetuyibi, who did not take the defendants plea due to want in jurisdiction, said the case file has been filed and duplicated at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.

Adetuyibi remanded the three defendants at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan, pending July 11, the next adjourned date for mention.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Oludare Adebayo, implored the court that Section 41 empowered the court to hear the matter.

Adebayo said the victim is a product of poverty.

Magistrate Adetuyibi, said the case file has been duplicated, but not until the ministry of Justice accepted to withdraw it that she can hear the matter.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Oluwakemi Arowosaye, had told the court that, Abdullahi, Ahmed, 40, and his wife Rofiat, 29, allegedly conspired together to wit sexual abuse.

Arowosaye said, ‘Abdullahi’ on December 17, 2022, was alleged to have sexually abused and exploited a 10-year-old girl at Kuola area, Ibadan.

“Abdullahi allegedly was asking the victim the colour of his penis, recording the scene and posting it on social media,”she said.

Arowosaye said the action is contrary to Section 35 (1) and punishable under Section 35  (2) of the Oyo State Child Right’s Law 2006.

She said it also contravened Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

If Abdullahi is found guilty of the offence, he is liable to 15 years imprisonment under the Child Right’s Law 2006.
