Effort to make Ekiti state, particularly Ado Ekiti the state capital clean and disease free has received a boost as construction of the 20 Dino Bins by the State Government has been completed and would soon be deployed to strategic locations within Ado Ekiti metropolis for use.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko- Ajisafe who made this known in Ado-Ekiti, said the bins, which were constructed in partnership with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority LAWMA would be judiciously utilized to eliminate indiscriminate waste disposal in the state.
Reiterating the commitment of the Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to maintaining a clean environment in the state, Aluko said government will leave no stone unturned towards achieving a clean, healthy, and epidemic-free society.
Aluko explained that the state government would embark on massive sensitization on the need to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse, adding that there would be enforcement of existing environmental laws in the state.
She therefore warned residents to desist from dumping waste on road medians, stressing that disposal of waste inside drainages, canals and medians inimical to welfare of people and a contravention of the environmental laws.
