The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, was moved from Lagos to Abuja on Thursday, ahead of his burial set for Friday.
Senior military officials were present as the Nigerian flag-covered casket was moved to a military aircraft for the flight to Abuja.
Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s death was announced last week by President Bola Tinubu, who stated that the army chief passed away in Lagos after a brief illness.
Born on February 28, 1968, Lagbaja served as the Chief of Army Staff for one year and four months, following his appointment by President Tinubu in June 2023.
During his tenure, he was actively involved in several key internal security missions, including Operation ZAKI in Benue State, Lafiya Dole in Borno, Udoka in the Southeast, and Operation Forest Sanity in Kaduna and Niger States.
