Bakery Worker Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Employer’s Cell Phones

A 20-year-old bakery worker, Rotimi Sanusi, has been arraigned in Lagos, for allegedly stealing his employer’s two cell phones worth N160,000.

Sanusi, who resides in Ojota area of Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Insp Donjor Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 16 at 11.30 p.m.at No 2, Ile-Nla Str., Kosofe, Mile 12, Lagos.

Perezi, said  the defendant stole a Samsung Galaxy phone worth N155,000 and a Tecno phone valued N5,000 belonging to the Complainant, Mrs Funmilayo Olaniyi.

He said that the defendant stole the complainant’s phones from her office. Adding that the defendant was caught by his colleague and was handed over to the police.

The Prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The section stipulates seven years jail term for stealing from one’s employer.

Magistrate M.O. Tanimola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the case till May 17 for mention.
