The Oyo State Government has inaugurated a 25-man installation committee ahead of the April 5 coronation of Oba Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.
The coronation ceremony will take place at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Otunba Ademola Ojo, inaugurated the committee on Monday at the ministry’s conference room. He stated that the move follows the official presentation of the staff and certificate of office to Oba Owoade by Governor Seyi Makinde on January 13.
For effective coordination, the committee has been divided into sub-committees to ensure a smooth coronation that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Oyo Kingdom.
The committee comprises representatives from the Alaafin’s palace, Oyo State Government, and key stakeholders.
Prominent members include Commissioners Ademola Ojo (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters), Prof. Musibau Babatunde (Budget), Dotun Oyelade (Information and Orientation), and Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun (Culture and Tourism). Others are Prince Abiodun Owoade, Prince Adeniyi Owoade, ALGON Chairman Sikiru Sanda, and Atiba Local Government Chairman.
Also on the committee are CP Sunday Odukoya (Executive Assistant on Security), Otunba Gboyega Badejo (Director General Protocol), and local government chairmen from Oyo West, Afijio, and Oyo East.
