Akande Tunde Movement Delivers On Educational Promises In Ido Local Govt

Nigerian Philanthropist and founder of the Akande Tunde Movement, (ATM) Dr. Akande Tunde Kazeem recently put smiles on the faces of staff of Ido Local Government Education Authority, Oyo State when he delivered materials to aid the coaching classes for secondary school students across six zones of the Local Government.

The summer classes which started last weekend was aimed at preparing indigent students in Ido Local Government and environs for the coming academic session and also improve the performance of students in WAEC, NECO, and JAMB.

The Secretary of the Education Authority, Alh. Mumini Bukola, received Dr. Akande and his team while marking the start of the coaching classes. He praised the thoughtfulness and generosity shown by the group and most especially the convener and founder, Dr. Akande Tunde Kazeem.

He described Dr. Akande as a selfless humanitarian who has touched lives in different phases, while commenting that the likes of Akande who are genuinely concerned about the well-being of the masses should be given an opportunity to participate in the governance.

Materials delivered by the group intended to aid the tutorial classes were textbooks, markers, chalk, notebooks, pens among others. In addition, Dr. Akande had a meeting with the teaching staff recruited for the coaching classes to discuss stipend payment and also other determining factors to the success of this initiative.

Speaking on the sustainability of the tutorial classes, Akande commented that he wishes to continue the programme for a long time, while noting that a mock exam will be conducted at the end of every phase of the tutorial to prepare students writing external examinations.

“Participants who come out in flying colours will be eligible for scholarships such as payment of examination fee, academic tuition in Nigerian or foreign universities, and general academic support” said Akande who added that “this initiative is a tip of the iceberg.”

He said that the group will further arrange academic scholarships, vocational training and IT training in a bid to contribute to the development of youth and support the government of the day under the administration of Governor Oluseyi Makinde.

Akande concluded by saying that his organisation will continue to support initiatives across health, education, peace, agriculture, and youth development.
