8TH ASSEMBLY: Mashio Emerges Speaker In Yobe

Alhaji Buba Mashio (APC) on Monday emerged the new Speaker of the 8th Yobe State House of Assembly.

The Speaker was nominated on the floor of the House by Alhaji Dala Dogo of Karasuwa constituency, seconded by Alhaji Bukar Mustapha, representing Geidam Central constituency.

In his inaugural speach, Mashio thanked members of the House for giving him their mandate and pledged to carry all of them along.

He also promised to work with the executive and the judiciary arms of government for more dividends of democracy in the state.

Five other officials of the House also emerged through nominations.

The officials are Alhaji Yau Dachia as the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf as House Leader, Alhaji Hassan Yusufari as Deputy Leader, Alhaji Mohammed Bello as Chief Whip and Alhaji Ahmed Danbol as Deputy Chief whip.
