30-Yr-Old Man To Serve Six Months Jail Term In Ibadan

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, has sentenced a 30- year old Muyiwa Olaniyan to six months imprisonment for being in possession of human parts.

The Police charged Olaniyan of Odo-Igbo area, Alariya, Eruwa, on two counts of indecently interfering with human corpse and unlawful possession of human head.

The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs T .G. Daudu in her judgment sentenced Olaniyan to six months imprisonment on each of the two count.

Daudu sentenced him to six months imprisonment with hard labour at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan.

She said the sentence will run concurrently, meaning the convict will spend six months in prison.

The Prosecution counsel, Insp Folake Ewe, had told the court that the convict on September 3, at about 3:10 a.m, at Cemetery area, Eruwa/Igboora Road, Eruwa, indecently interfered with a human corpse.

Ewe said, “the convict dug out the corpse from the grave and removed it’s skull and two legs

“The convict unlawfully have in his possession human head which he dug from the grave without lawful authority,” she said.

The convict, it was reported carried out the crime with his wife, Modina, a nursing mother and now on the run.

The convict was caught by Nigeria Hunters and Forest guard that handed him over to the police,”she said.

Ewe said the offence contravened Sections 242 (1) (b) and 329A of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000
