28TH CONVOCATION: EKSU Set To Confer Honours On 10,894 Graduands          … as Adeboye, Adebayo two other eminent Nigerians bag honorary doctorate degrees

The substantive 8th Vice Chancellor of EKSU disclosed this on Monday during a Press Conference held at the campus in respect of the 28th Convocation ceremony of the Institution scheduled to hold on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th April, 2024.

Giving the breakdown of the categories of Graduands to be  awarded with various honours during the convocation, Olanipekun noted that a total number of 224 students will bag Diploma. While a total number of 4400 will bag First Degree. 

At the Directorate of Continuing Education Programme (DCEP), a total number of 5359 Graduands will be awarded. While  a total number of 756 will be convoked at the Directorate of Part-Time and Pre-Degree Programmes (OPTD). 

Also, at the College of Postgraduate Studies, a total number of 155 Graduands will be awarded bringing the Grand total of Graduands to 10, 894 (Ten thousand, eight hundred and ninety four Graduands.

As part of the occasion, four eminent personalities will be conferred with honorary doctorate degrees. They are; the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,  Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the first Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo Prince Julius Adeluyi and Princess Folorunso Alakija.

Recounting the various achievements so far recorded by his administration in his four years and seven months in office, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the various academic programmes of the University that have been accredited saying virtually all the programmes have been accredited by the National University Commission.

Other achievements include approval of new academic programmes to make the university a top-notch, MBBS and B.NSc Programmes, EKSU International College, Afao Ekiti, Infrastructural Development, Academic Engagement and Intellectual Discourses, the University Health Centre, Sports and Games, ICT Infrastructure, Linkages and Collaboration, EKSU Alumni Association, Benefactors of the University, Quality of EKSU Graduates,  Research Grants, Books and Journals Publication, Staff training, Staff and Students’ Welfare as well as Staff and Students’ Discipline among others.

While appreciating the Visitor of the University, His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State for his unalloyed support for the Institution,, Professor Olanipekun equally thanked the Governor for providing an enabling environment to actualize his mission and mission for the University.  He also appreciated the former governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for giving him the opportunity to serve as VIce Chancellor.
