2024 CHILDREN’S DAY: Yemi Oshe Foundation Felicitates Children

Children’s Day is an international day which was established in Nigeria in 1964. The day is usually marked on 27th May every year as holiday is always declared in both primary and secondary schools in the country for celebration of children and creating awareness about issues that affect them and as well appreciate the fact that they are the leaders of tomorrow.

In Nigeria, Children’s Day is celebrated with lots of parades and parties. Schools would organise parades by themselves and give children the opportunity to get involved in the celebrations. The Nigerian government usually organises an official annual parade on the day where teachers, parents and children are all get involved.

Some TV and radio stations do get involved in the fun also as children are allowed to broadcast and anchor programmes for part of the day. This gives young children some valuable experience in such roles and brighten up the day for viewers and listeners.

As they celebrate the Day again this year, Mr Opeyemi Bamidele Omotoyinbo, encouraged the children to remain focused, obedient and hardworking. He equally urged them to maintain good company and shun all manners of social vices.
