Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the viral DNA controversy involving a young lady identified as Anu Adeleke, who publicly appealed to the singer to undergo a DNA test to establish her paternity.
Davido became a trending topic on Thursday after a video surfaced on social media showing Anu emotionally pleading with the music star to agree to a DNA test, insisting that she wanted clarity about her biological father.
The video sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users tagging Davido and urging him to respond.
After several hours of intense public pressure, the singer addressed the issue via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Quoting a post that read, “A daughter asking the father for a DNA test will really break and touch the father’s heart,” Davido stated that DNA tests had already been conducted on multiple occasions.
According to him, the tests consistently showed that he is not the girl’s biological father.
Davido disclosed that DNA tests were carried out in five different hospitals to eliminate any doubts, explaining that both parties were involved in selecting the testing centres.
“Yes, I chose three hospitals and they chose two hospitals. All the results came out negative. This is the last time I’m speaking on this matter,” he wrote.
Responding to questions about his relationship with Anu’s mother, Davido denied having any personal relationship with her, stating that their only interaction occurred during the DNA testing process.
He further stressed that the situation had been unfairly escalated online, adding that he sympathised with the young girl but rejected claims linking him to her paternity.
The controversy has continued to generate mixed reactions across social media, with calls for restraint and privacy from some quarters, while others urged all parties involved to resolve the matter outside the public space.
