The Nigeria Immigration Service has informed Nigerians that its online passport application platform will be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled system maintenance.
The Service made this known in a statement issued on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, Mr A S Akinlabi, explaining that the maintenance exercise will run from Friday through Sunday. He said users may experience delays, limited access or service interruptions during the period.

In a statement issued by the Service, the NIS appealed to applicants for patience and understanding, stressing that the maintenance is necessary to sustain a secure, efficient and reliable digital passport system. It added that technical teams are working continuously to ensure that full services are restored within the stipulated timeframe.
The Immigration Service also advised members of the public who may require assistance during the maintenance window to reach out through its official social media platforms or designated contact centre lines.
The development comes shortly after the NIS activated temporary complaint response channels following the removal of its previous support accounts. The Service explained that the new platforms were introduced to ensure uninterrupted communication with applicants experiencing challenges with passport and visa processing.
Affected applicants were directed to submit complaints through the temporary X handles @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as through the Service’s official Instagram page.
