ADC Speaks On Atiku, Obi 2027 Presidential Ambitions

The party said the situation has created a puzzle that cannot be ignored in the build up to the next polls.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson of the ADC, made the observation while speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television on Friday. He explained that although the Atiku and Obi conversation has generated national attention, it would be an exaggeration to describe it as the biggest danger facing Nigeria’s democracy at the moment.

Abdullahi noted that the matter remains a challenge for his party but stressed that the ADC is currently more focused on strengthening its political network across the country. He said the party is devoting its energy to consolidating structures in all states and preparing itself for a competitive outing in the 2027 election cycle.

According to him, no discussion has started within the party regarding who will emerge as the ADC presidential candidate. He maintained that the key task now is to position the party to field credible candidates nationwide, adding that the leadership is aware that decisions will eventually have to be made on the presidential ticket.

To address the emerging issues, Abdullahi said the party may turn to consensus when the time comes. He explained that the ADC is open to negotiating a united position among its stakeholders, but if a consensus fails, the presidential ticket will be opened to all aspirants.

Abdullahi also clarified that the 2027 conversation should not be reduced to just Atiku and Obi. He said other interested politicians are likely to seek the party’s ticket, noting that the ADC must make room for a wider field of contenders as the race remains far from settled.
