The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, has pledged the support of the university community for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji ahead of Saturday’s June 20, 2026 governorship election.

Prof. Ayodele made the pledge on Wednesday during a special visit by the wife of the governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, to the university.

The Vice Chancellor commended the governor for what he described as giant strides in the university, particularly the increase in monthly subvention twice within three years.
He said the gesture had enabled his administration to clear arrears of staff salaries and improve basic infrastructure on campus.
Prof. Ayodele also noted that the stability of the academic calendar enjoyed in the last two years was due to the governor’s interventions at critical points.

He described Governor Oyebanji and his wife as part and parcel of EKSU, citing the role of Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji in facilitating the ICT Experience Centre recently commissioned by the wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
According to him, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji has also been teaching pro bono in the Faculty of Education for several years and, through her Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope, WAOH, Empowerment Project, has awarded scholarships to over 30 indigent students of the institution.
The VC further commended the governor for appointing Dr. Tunji Olowolafe as Chancellor of EKSU, describing the appointment as one of the best in the university’s history.
Pledging the support of the EKSU community for Governor Oyebanji in the forthcoming election, Prof. Ayodele appealed to staff and students to come out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility.

“Continuity is key to the progress of Ekiti State,” he said.
In her remarks, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji stressed the need for stronger collaboration among government, educational institutions and community leaders to promote sustainable development and improve citizens’ welfare.
She highlighted people-oriented programmes of the Oyebanji administration, including scholarship opportunities for students, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, and execution of infrastructural projects across the state.
Dr. Oyebanji said the administration’s commitment to good governance was justification for support for a second term.
