Fappy Movement Condemns Alleged Attack on Faparusi Campaign in Ikere, Urges APC to Uphold Peaceful Primary

In a statement issued on Saturday, the group described the incident as “antithetical to democratic norms” and contrary to the APC leadership’s stated commitment to internal democracy.

The movement said the disruption created tension and panic among supporters and residents, and represented a dangerous departure from civilized political engagement.

“We strongly condemn the unfortunate disruption and attack allegedly carried out by suspected political thugs during the campaign activities of Hon. Engr. Bamidele Faparusi in Ikere Ekiti,” the statement read.

“It is deeply troubling that at a time when the leadership of the APC has repeatedly assured aspirants and members of a transparent, peaceful, and credible primary process, some desperate elements have allegedly resorted to intimidation, violence, and disruption in an attempt to silence growing grassroots support for Hon. Faparusi across Ekiti South Senatorial District.”

The group called on security agencies and the APC leadership to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable, regardless of political affiliation.

It also urged the party to disqualify any aspirant found to have breached the party’s code of conduct on violence-free primaries.

“Hon. Bamidele Faparusi remains committed to peaceful, issue-based, and people-oriented politics. His campaign will not be distracted or intimidated by acts of provocation, harassment, or violence,” the group said.

The movement called on supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, stating that the level of grassroots support for Faparusi across Ekiti South showed a preference for tested and accessible leadership.

“Politics should be about ideas, service, and performance — not violence, fear, or intimidation,” the statement added.

The group reaffirmed confidence in the party’s direct primary process and urged that members be allowed to choose their candidate freely and without coercion.
