Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has suspended an appointee, Mr. Dayo Ibijowo, after his arrest by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in connection with alleged armed thuggery.
Ibijowo, popularly known as “Ijaya,” was among 11 suspected armed thugs paraded by the police in Ikun-Ekiti on Friday. Police said the group was hired by a serving member of the House of Representatives to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary scheduled for Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Ibijowo will remain suspended pending the conclusion of investigations into the case.
The statement said the suspension reflects the administration’s zero tolerance for lawlessness and criminality.
Oyebanji concluded a violence-free campaign tour of the state’s 16 local government areas on Wednesday. Throughout the tour, he urged politicians and supporters to maintain peace during and after the electioneering period.
Reiterating his appeal for calm, the governor said no act of criminality would be tolerated.
